Dean Evans is an award-winning performer, director, and master physical theater artist. Named one of the top 50 'players' by New City magazine Dean tours internationally as a solo artist and has performed profesionally with the Second City, iO, the Goodman, Cirque du Soleil and more. Dean was an ensemble member of the iconic performance art troop the Neo-Futurists in Chicago. Dean has directed many troops including Slowdance, iL Fungo. the Nonsemble, and Mil Grus who had an off-broadway run in NYC in 2019. Dean's alter ego, Honeybuns, has enjoyed their own career performing in NYC, Chicago, Moscow, Ireland, Austin, Boston, Portland and Los Angeles. Dean has created over a dozen full-length theatrical productions, 3 full-length circuses, and dozens of comedic characters. They have appeared on NBC, AMC, TBS, Netflix, The Onion, and Russia's минута славы. Dean also writes & directs really cool films.
As a teaching artist Dean has been on faculty at Columbia College, The Celebration Barn, the Second City Training Center, Aloft Circus Arts, and the Actor's Gymnasium. They have taught master classes at Boston University, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Big Apple Circus Clown Care Unit, UIC, Oberlin College, the Ohio State University, Lake Forest College, Brooklyn Art Haus, The Neo-Futurists, the Clown School and more. Dean was the Artistic Director of Chicago Physical Theater from 2009 to 2016. Dean currently teaches classes in Clown, Mime, Bouffon, and Clown for Film. in Los Angeles.
